Although Nigerians love hip-hop as much as the rest of the world, the groovy sound of Afropop is still the most dominant genre in the country. However, this isn’t because of a lack of effort from the Nigerian rappers. Blaqbonez is one of the few rappers who has kept the hip-hop community in mainstream music conversations. He has done this through memorable verses, catchy hooks and his playful personality. While his social media charmed antics – sharing pictures of his colorful hair, posting comedy skits and other internet troll activities – have made his name a regular feature in music conversations on the internet, he has put out hit songs like BBC and Haba and shown he can also deliver quality rap songs to back up the online visibility.

His 2019 single, Mamiwota introduced the world to the exceptional voice of Oxlade who he featured on the song’s hook. Oxlade’s impressive performance on the track has seen his career blossom as he became an overnight sensation following the song’s release. We pride ourselves in creating intimate live music sessions where undiscovered talents can show off their skills and we were privileged to host the pair at our Aux Sessions where they performed their smash hit, Mamiwota
